EPA-0328:

Komodo dragon, Komodo National Park, Indonesia. These large carnivorous monitor lizards can reach lengths of 11 feet and weigh 350 pounds. They prey on small deer and wild boar found on Komodo Island. Their saliva contains deadly bacteria that kills prey by blood poisoning. An endangered species, they are found on only Komodo Island, nearby Rinca Island and part of Flores Island. They have killed and eaten humans. Komodo Island is a World Heritage Site.
