EPA-0936: These two elephants are siblings, part of a family of twenty or so. What appears to be mock sparring or "kissing" is actually a greeting. Elephants often display affection in greeting each other. This endangered species is highly intelligent and the worldwide CITES ban on ivory trade has halted poaching in East Africa. Elephant populations are beginning to return to normal levels in Kenya and Tanzania since the days of heavy poaching in the 1980s
